Service Area

Our focus is on quality and because of this, we prefer to work with trades who have the same priorities. We have spent many years sourcing and developing relationships with trades we trust. This does mean our service area is affected.

Please contact us to find out if we can build in your area!

The Design Process

We work with you to create a tailored sustainable design for your new home. Outlined below is the design process we go through with you when creating your custom home design.

1. Initial Consultation

The process begins with your first phone call to us. We will discuss your project and explain some of the core principles of sustainable design.

2. The Brief

After the initial phone call, we will send you our detailed design brief. This brief covers important things to help us understand your design priorities.

It’s important to be as detailed as possible when filling out the brief – as we refer to it throughout the design phases. In the consultation, we will discuss the brief with you and answer any of your questions.

So there’s no need to worry if you are unsure of anything. There will be plenty time to discuss and make changes before we begin your design!

3. Design Consultation

When you’ve completed and sent back the design brief, we will organise a time to discuss your project. In the consultation, we’ll explain the design and build processes, and go over your brief, answering any questions you may have.

4. The Contract

If you feel we are the right fit for designing and building your home  – we will send you our design contract. This contract outlines all the design stages, what they include and details the costs.

5. The Site Inspection

We will meet you at your site to discuss the best placement of your home. We like to get an understanding of how you want to use your property.

Where you’d like access, the features you love and the views you want captured in your new home. We will discuss how we can achieve this while maintaining solar passive design principles.

6. Design Schematic

In the design schematic phase, we create your floor plan. Throughout this phase, we work to meet your brief, also taking into consideration your budget, site and sustainable design principles.

After the draft floor plan has been finalised, we will meet with you again. In this meeting, we will discuss the features of your custom design.

You will also have the opportunity to give us feedback and ask any questions you may have.

7. Design Development

In this phase, we further develop the design of your new home. This focuses on details of roof lines, window configurations and trusses.

Your design will be ready for town planning (if required) during this phase. We will fine tune the design with any of your feedback and develop a 3D layout.

8. Design Documentation

This involves the preparation of all working drawings including electrical and storm water plans. Final details will be added from separate reports (engineering, energy ratings/performance solutions etc.).

At the end of this phase, the plans are ready for full quoting and submission for building permits.

Client Communication

Throughout the design process, you will have access to our client communication system, Co-Construct. The program documents all our communications and will have all the information and choices relevant to your new home.

The fun part of having a custom designed home, is that you get to choose exactly what you want in your home. We will use our knowledge and experience to help guide you to make the best choices. Whether this be about sustainability, solar passive design or the general functionality of your home.

We will help you through every step of the process. Our aim is for you to make informed decisions about what and how things will influence your home.

Your final design will be a reflection of the choices you make along the way, your priorities and our knowledge of sustainability. What you will end up with is a totally unique, tailored, solar passive design.
